- Get Organized
The most important thing about worry-free travel is being organized. Start with a packing list and stick to it. But let’s face it, even with lists, most of us usually end up with a suitcase we’re sitting on top of to try and close. Once you have all your items, lay them out on the bed and scrap at least three. You really won’t need that 5th pair of running shorts on your three day vacation, we promise.
Next, don’t start off your relaxing vacation plans by hurriedly shuffling through your purse at security for your passport or travel documents. Our chic travel document organizer will keep everything right where you need it, at your fingertips.
- Pack Like a Pro
We’ve all heard the 3-1-1 over and over again, yet we also always see somebody suffer the inevitable toss in the garbage of their favorite new lotion because it’s over 3 ounces or not in a clear, zip top bag. The official TSA rule is stated on their website as, “Liquids, gels, aerosols, creams and pastes must be 3.4 ounces (100ml) or less per container; must be in 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin.” Keep your travel essentials in line with the rules with our hair and body travel kitand breeze through security.
It also helps to know your airline’s carry-on size policy. Carry-on bags have gotten quite a bit larger and many offer expansions to account for the extras you’ll be bringing back. But limit yourself on the trip out and don’t use that expansion, trust us, you’ll regret it on the way back. And don’t forget that personal item. Your purse is a great place to tuck away smaller items like your jewelry organizer or foldable flats that come in handy for an additional pair of shoes.
- Stick with a Color Scheme& Think Layers
One of our favorite tips is to focus on a particular color scheme so you can leverage one piece in many different ways. That jewel-toned beach dress will quickly change from day to night with an addition of a bold necklace and cropped white jacket. But don’t get stuck bringing different shoes and pieces just because the color schemes are different. Stick with neutrals for accessories and the same color scheme for clothing.
Finally, leverage your layers. When traveling we like to wear multiple pieces so they don’t all get stuffed in a suitcase. Strut through security with that beach fedora you love! (Hey, you can always toss it in the overhead bin.)
